BalanceWare trial balance software interfaces with Drake Software. Drake Software is one of the more popular tax packages in the accounting marketplace. The BalanceWare interface is accomplished using the QuickBooks Financial and Accounting import utility within Drake.
A few months ago when I was designing the QuickBooks import routines for BalanceWare trial balance software, I needed a complete listing of QuickBooks tax line mappings for all entities. I soon discovered that no such document existed on the internet–at least not in the first few hundred hits.
It turns out quite a few folks were searching for this same document, but it was not to be found by anyone as far as I could tell.
As a result, I wrote a script which created a Microsoft Excel sheet containing all of the QuickBooks tax lines and I am offering this Excel file as a free download. This list is sequenced and can be filtered by tax entity. The list was developed using the Desktop version of QuickBooks 2020. I hope you find it useful.
The BalanceWare to Drake interface process is similar to a QuickBooks to Drake handshake. In QuickBooks, a Tax Summary report is saved as a print file, by selecting “Print to file” in the print dialog box. The tax summary report is saved in BalanceWare by clicking on the Drake Export button on the Income Tax tab. Using either method, the saved report is imported into Drake via the Tools / File Maintenance / Import Data with “QuickBooks Financial and Accounting Software” selected. The import works flawlessly as far as I can tell and saves a lot of time keying data into Drake.
Obviously this same system would work with any tax package that uses a similar process. I would like to expand the BalanceWare list of supported tax packages, no matter the method. If you have a tax package and would like a BalanceWare interface, please let me know at support@balware.com .
